Backpacks

Buy a disc golf backpack and carry your gear comfortably: At Discgolf4you, you’ll find compact disc golf bags, lightweight backpacks for casual rounds and spacious bags for long tournament days. Keep your discs organised and your drinks, towels and accessories within easy reach.

The right disc golf bag depends on your disc selection and what you need on the course. Look for carrying comfort, storage space, manageable weight and easy access to your discs. Our buying guide helps you choose a backpack that suits your rounds.

Which disc golf backpack is right for you?
Small shoulder bag or disc golf backpack?

Small disc golf bag: A practical option when you only want to carry a few discs. Ideal for getting started, short rounds or keeping your disc selection deliberately simple.

Compact backpack: A good choice if you want to carry your equipment on both shoulders, with room for discs, drinks and a few extras.

Spacious tournament backpack: Useful for a larger disc selection and long playing days with extra clothing, food and accessories.

How much disc capacity do I need?

Start with the discs you actually throw. A small selection doesn’t require a large tournament backpack. If you carry discs for different shot shapes along with backups, you’ll need more storage space.

Putters and midranges take up more space than drivers. The stated disc capacity is therefore a guide, not a guaranteed fit for every disc selection. A bag packed with putters and midranges holds fewer discs than the same bag filled with drivers. Also check whether the capacity includes additional disc pockets or only the main compartment.

Our tip: Allow a little room to grow, but don’t choose a bag solely by its maximum disc count. Water, a rain jacket and snacks need space too.

What makes a backpack comfortable to carry?

Padded, adjustable shoulder straps and suitable back padding are particularly important on longer rounds. A chest strap can help keep the shoulder straps in position.

Consider the empty weight of the backpack as well as your fully packed load. Even a lightweight bag becomes heavy when filled with discs and drinks. Its size and fit should suit your body.

Packing tip: Distribute your equipment evenly and keep heavier items close to your back. Only carry what you need for that particular round.

Which pockets and features are useful?

Easy disc access: An accessible main compartment makes choosing a disc easier. Separate putter pockets can keep your most-used discs within reach.

Drinks and personal items: Look for suitable bottle holders and secure pockets for your keys, phone and other small essentials.

Accessory storage: Depending on your needs, towel attachments, umbrella or retriever holders and extra room for a jacket can be useful. Features vary between models.

Check the base too: Construction, footprint and materials matter because you’ll put your disc golf backpack down repeatedly throughout a round.

Which backpacks suit beginners and tournament players?

Your choice depends on what you want to carry. Experienced players often enjoy a smaller bag for quick rounds too.

For beginners and casual rounds: Look for a manageable size, low weight and enough space for your discs and drinks. A compact backpack is often a practical starting point.

For tournaments and longer rounds: Prioritise carrying comfort, room for your full disc selection and additional storage for food, spare clothing and accessories.

Compare the features and dimensions of individual models. Choose a disc golf backpack that fits your equipment and playing habits—you don’t need the largest bag available.

Do I need a rain cover?

Water-resistant doesn’t automatically mean waterproof. Check the specifications of your chosen model. A compatible rain cover can be useful during longer rounds in wet weather.

Before buying a rain cover, check that it fits your backpack model and whether one is already included. Consider whether you can still access your discs and essential pockets while the cover is fitted.

After a wet round: Remove damp towels and clothing, open your bag and let it dry thoroughly. Follow the manufacturer’s care instructions.
